Tips for the trail

To keep you focused on the ride ahead, arm yourself with some essential trailside knowledge.

Fine-tuning

To further optimize shift performance or eliminate unwanted rasping sounds, adjust the rear derailleur trim position using MicroAdjust™. This feature compensates for the subtle variations that can occur at the hub. For best results, you'll want to check the shifting performance while riding the bike so the suspension is in the sagged, riding position.

Tech Tip: Less is more. MicroAdjust one click at a time until performance is optimized.

Derailleur reset

The Full Mount on your Eagle Transmission is designed to rotate in the event of frontal impact, moving your derailleur away from danger. A simple trailside reset may occasionally be required to re-align your derailleur’s position. There are two ways to perform the reset: by hand, or utilizing the rear axle.

What to look for: if you’ve struck your derailleur, verify that the knurled ring mark is aligned with the mark on the full mount. If misaligned, a trailside impact reset is required. Try resetting by hand before resetting with the axle.

It’s supposed to look like that

The Eagle Transmission derailleur houses its pulley wheels in what we call our Inline Cage. Oriented to keep the top pulley in perfect alignment with the cassette, it also keeps the bottom pulley at an optimum angle with the front chainring — which gives it the appearance of having a twist.

Wheel removal and installation

Rear wheel removal and installation is still fast and simple, whether you’re swapping a wheel mid-race or preparing your bike for transport.

Traveling with transmission

Going somewhere epic? Traveling with your Transmission-equipped bike is even easier with Prepare, Hang, and Tighten, but the procedure is a bit different than with a traditional drivetrain. Get the download on how to prep and pack your Transmission derailleur for travel. And yes, you can leave your chain on.

Ready for anything

In addition to your trusty multi-tool, bring along an Eagle Transmission PowerLock and a chain tool just in case. The PowerLock that holds your chain together is designed for a single use only. Plus, a new PowerLock will get you home or to your nearest bike shop, regardless of what happens out there.

Carrying a spare CR2032 battery (and a coin to open the battery department) gives you the confidence to head out for that long ride even if you forget to check your battery status before you leave and a shifter battery dies mid-ride.

Tech Tip: SRAM AXS batteries are compatible across the AXS Ecosystem, so you can use the same battery for your Reverb AXS as your Eagle AXS rear derailleur. (Which also means you can swap the battery out of your Reverb AXS if your derailleur battery dies.)
