Why go big?

Too many of today’s carbon gravel wheels are simply repurposed road wheels. This approach leaves riders with problems that slow them down:

  • Wheel aerodynamics are ruined by mismatched rim and tire widths.
  • Ideal tire pressures for gravel compromise bike control on narrow rims.
  • Wheel and tire interface often doesn’t help prevent pinch flats.

Greater Aero Efficiency at Higher Speed

The 303 XPLR’s deeper and wider rim design means better aero performance. At average race speeds (about 29-36kph), Zipp internal testing found 2-watt savings from aero efficiency gains compared with a peer wheel. The advantage grew to 10 watts or more when speeds exceeded 53kph on descents and other fast sections.
