PREPARE YOUR SETUP

STEP 1: CHARGE YOUR BATTERY

AXS batteries take an hour to charge and last for approximately 60 hours of riding time, meaning most riders need to charge roughly once a month. To preserve battery life, AXS components go to sleep when the bike is stationary. Shake it to wake it.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR BATTERY STATUS

An LED will flash on your seatpost and controller every time you engage them, indicating the battery status of each component. You can also press the AXS button on each component to check the status.

Tech Tip: Any AXS battery will work as a swap-in. Shifting is typically a more critical aspect of riding, so swap your fresh(er) seatpost battery to your derailleur to save your ride without skipping a beat. Just remember to adjust your seatpost to your desired position before swapping out the battery.

STEP 2: EXTEND THE SEATPOST

Install the AXS battery and press the AXS button on the seatpost to extend it ... away from your face.

Tech Tip: Pressing the post’s AXS button will enter and exit Service Mode. Once you extend the seatpost, press the AXS button again to exit Service Mode.

INSTALLATION IS EASY

Apply friction paste, drop the seatpost into your frame to the desired height, and install your saddle. Reverb AXS is compatible with all saddle rail types and sizes, so you can confidently install your trusty saddle.

For the ability to completely customize your cockpit, Reverb AXS does not ship with a controller. If needed, install your controller. If you already have an AXS controller installed, we’ll walk through pairing in the next section.

Still need to pick out a controller? See the Compatibility Guide

Tech Tip: You’ll want to torque all bolts to spec before your first ride, but we recommend finding your perfect seatpost height, controller location, saddle position, and tilt before final tightening.

  • Seatpost Clamp Bolt: ≤6.7 N⋅m (≤59 in-lb),  but check with frame manufacturer, and torque to whichever is lower.
  • Saddle Clamp Bolts: 6 N⋅m (53 in-lb)

WHAT ARE YOU PAIRING?

PAIRING INTO AN AXS SYSTEM:

1. Pairing a complete AXS system takes seconds. Pair your derailleur, controllers, and seatpost together into a single system for the most customization options.

2. AXS Controllers are programmable. Which button shifts up, which shifts down, which controls your Reverb AXS is all up to you. Just use the Configure Controls menu in the AXS App to simply invert controller button functions, or to reassign button functions across multiple controllers.

Tech Tip: While the bottom left controller button is the assigned Reverb button, we suggest playing with your controls to find what works best for you. For example, you could assign both top controllers button to your Reverb, the lower left button to shift the derailleur inboard, and the lower right to shift outboard.

Pair your Reverb AXS and AXS controller together. Pairing introduces your components to each other with a wireless handshake, so they form a secure and seamless group—and it only takes a few seconds.

Tech Tip: If your seatpost and controller aren’t pairing together, make sure both components are on the most recent firmware.
