Annemiek van Vleuten wrote her name into the history books, winning the inaugural Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The Movistar legend was unstoppable in the mountains of the Vosges, winning the final two stages en route to an historic maillot jaune.
van Vleuten was far from the only successful SRAM and Zipp athlete. Our riders swept the GC podium, with Demi Vollering of Team SD Worx in second and Canyon//SRAM Racing's Kasia Niewiadoma in third.
Demi Vollering not only took second, but secured the Queen of the Mountains jersey as the race's best climber. "I rode with my heart for the team and for Amy Pieters. I really suffered, but I told myself I had to do it for all the people who supported me. I am proud of my performance," Vollering said.
Kasia Niewiadoma's third place came thanks to an incredibly strong team. In addition to protecting their leader and her podium place, strong riding in the final mountain stages won Canyon//SRAM the final teams classification as well.
It can be hard bearing the weight of expectations, and Shirin van Anrooij of Trek-Segafredo came into the Tour as the heavy favorite for the white jersey of best young rider. She never let the pressure get to her, riding strong every stage to lock up the jersey as the race hit the mountains. The CX phenom will be one to watch on the road in the future.
With a GC podium sweep, three of the four classification jerseys, three stage wins, and eight stupendous days of racing, we couldn't be prouder of our athletes and their performances. It was a week we'll remember forever.
